Dear IWON Friends,
We’ve received many responses here on the blog over the weekend.
We want you to know that we’re reading every single comment and that everyone’s opinion is being heard. However, given the high volume, it’s difficult to address every question. Below are questions that have come up frequently.
If you have additional questions, we encourage you to reach out to us at email@example.com.
Q: Is IWON shutting down?
A: No. IWON is not shutting down. Players can still enjoy all of the hundreds of games they love. While we are discontinuing some elements of our prizing structure, the most popular prizing component of our site—Team Challenge play—will continue, allowing our more than 6 million registered users the ability to play on behalf of and win money for their favorite local or national charity.
Q: Do you plan to change IWON’s name?
A: No. We will not be changing the name of the site. Though some prizes won’t be available anymore, players can still win in terms of succeeding at games by achieving high scores and accumulating coins.
Q: After operating successfully for more than 12 years why did the company decide to eliminate IWON’s prizing structure?
A: Effective May 1, 2012, IWON will end some of its prizing programs. After much consideration, we’ve decided to remove daily, weekly and monthly sweepstakes from IWON, as well as instant win games. You can still play your favorite games for free, but prizing will now focus primarily on our Pick 7 contest and the incredibly popular IWON Team Challenge program which benefits so many worthy local and national charities.
Q: If the daily, weekly and monthly sweepstakes are going away, what will I be able to spend my coins on? Do you lose your levels when you spend coins?
A: Players will still be able to earn coins while playing games on IWON. For those who participate in Team Challenge, the coins will count toward your team’s total each month and the organization you play for could win money in the form of a donation. You will not lose your levels.
Q: I hope the levels and badges aren’t going away. I’m still trying to get to the top.
A: Levels and badges aren’t going anywhere! You can still earn Games badges by completing challenges within specific games, Community badges by completing activities on the site and Team Challenge badges for participating on a winning team and being a team MVP.
Q: How do I earn a Team Challenge MVP badge?
A: The MVP badge is awarded to the Team Challenge participant who earns the most coins for his or her team in a single month. In the event of a tie, the player who was first to earn the winning number of coins will receive the badge.
Q: Though individual prizing is going away, will I still be able to play and raise money for my favorite charities through Team Challenge?
A: Yes. This very popular part of IWON will continue to operate as usual. IWON gamers have shown fierce dedication for the teams/charities they play for and we will continue to support this philanthropic effort.
Q: Please explain the award structure of Team Challenge. Who receives the funds—the charity or the team members?
A: The award for First Place in Team Challenge is $5,000. That amount goes to each of the two organizations that are represented by the highest coin earning member-created team and the highest earning national team for the month. In addition, we award $2,000 for Second Place and $1,000 for Third Place for both member-created and national teams. So, each month there are six winning teams. Payment will be made to the beneficiary specified by the team creator.
Q: Will IWON still award progressive jackpots?
A: No. We will not continue the progressive jackpots.
Q: What’s happening to Pick 7?
A: Per the contest rules on our site, people can enter to win until August 31, 2012.
Q: What about the annual sweeps?
A: The annual sweepstakes was discontinued August 31, 2011.
Q: I belong to the only Canadian team on IWON and if we ever win (we often come in 9th) there are all sorts of bells and whistles before, and if, the team will get the money. Please explain this.
A: In addition to the rules that IWON has in place, there are also rules and laws in place from our players’ countries of origin. The rules to which you refer are those that the Canadian government has put in place and we must respect them in order to legally award you your prize.
Q: Which sweepstakes can be entered before the month of April ends?
A: You can enter the daily, weekly and monthly sweepstakes until 2:59:59 a.m. EDT on May 1, 2012.
Q: When will be the last day you draw for the contests that are discontinuing?
A: All prize and sweepstakes-related items will be removed from IWON at 3 a.m. EDT on May 1,2012. The final drawings for sweepstakes will take place at that time as well.
Q: Will the Prize Machine and Spin 2 Win be eliminated or just changed to remove prizes?
A: Prize Machine has been eliminated. If circumstances allow, we’d love to bring it back. Spin 2 Win has been updated to give players a chance to win more spins and more coins for leveling and Team Challenge.
Q: Will daily coin limits remain unchanged?
A: Yes, daily coin limits will remain unchanged.
Q:How do I use my coins now?
A:While you can no longer enter coins into sweepstakes, you may use them to play games like Video Poker. Also, if you have joined a team, your coins will continue to be added to your team’s total.
Q: How do I donate coins to my team?
A: You cannot donate coins you have previously earned. However, all coins you earn after you have joined a team will be added to your team’s balance. You will not see a coin deduction on your IWON coin account when these coins are added.
